Sticks and Stones: Official Contest Details

WHO: High school students (grades 9-12) from Sangamon and Menard County schools. ONE entry per student.

WHAT: Be part of a unique local effort to raise awareness and end bullying in our community. Through November 30, Kari Bedford Photography is seeking artistic submissions from central Illinois area high school students. Entries should address the topic of bullying. You choose the means of expression: painting, drawing, photography, writing — it is entirely up to you. No entry will be censored, but please use your best judgment. Entries will be judged by an independent jury that includes local artists and art teachers. Every student who enters will receive a free t-shirt. The winning artist will receive a free portrait session as well as products from Kari Bedford Photography valued at $500. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. No cash value for award. Any high school student from Sangamon County or Menard County may enter, but award may not be applied to current client orders.

WHEN: Deadline for entries: 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2010. The winner will be announced on the blog on December 10, 2010.

WHERE: Students must attend a high school in Sangamon County or Menard County. Students who are home-schooled are also encouraged to submit entries, but must live within Sangamon County or Menard County.

HOW TO ENTER:

Submissions may be made via email with “Sticks and Stones Entry” as the subject header to nobullies@karibedford.com and MUST include:

  • Your name
  • Your phone number

Your entry MUST address the topic of bullying in some way. Have you been bullied? Have you participated in bullying? Do you have ideas about how to stop bullying? What have you witnessed in your lifetime? How do you feel about the way bullying is handled in your school? What can you do (or what have you done) to end bullying?

If you are submitting an entry, please pay attention to the specific guidelines for each kind of entry. By entering, you are authorizing Kari Bedford Photography to feature your entry on karibedfordblog.com. In addition, by entering, you are also stating that you are the original, sole author and owner of your entry.
