Springfield, IL Photographer: Glam-o-Rama

I love old movies, so it should come as no surprise that some of my photos seem to reflect the influence of old Hollywood. I think every couple has a glamorous side…it’s up to me to bring it to light!

This photo of Tara and Zach reminds me of a silent film. I think he just rescued her from train tracks — just in time!

I love the punchy colors and dramatic lighting of The Legacy Theater.

Classic, movie star elegance at Chicago’s Blackstone Hotel.

Springfield, IL Wedding Photographer ~ Some Photos Are More Important Than Others

Quite possibly one of the most moving photos I have had the honor of taking. Megan’s grandmother was unable to attend the wedding, so she and Matt visited her grandmother instead. On a day that is supposedly “all about the bride and groom,” Megan and Matt put a great deal of emphasis on the importance of family and friends. More photos from this wedding coming soon, but this one might just be my favorite from the day.

If you stalk wedding blogs, you are already familiar with the beautiful and inspiring site, Style Me Pretty. I am very pleased to announce that they have chosen not one, but two of my weddings to feature on the blog. You can view them here and here!

Engagement Session at Heritage Prairie Farm in Elburn, Illinois

Let me just say this: I am a total foodie and a complete and utter beer snob. So when Michael and Melissa showed up with their dogs (who were named after breakfast foods) whilst wearing matching Ranger IPA t-shirts, I knew we would get along just fine. They chose Heritage Prairie Farm as the location of their engagement photos. Consequently, it was also the location of their brunch wedding. I love working in a single location like this — especially one that is new to me. It gives the photos a unified feel and allows me to play in a new spot — one that just happened to be right up my alley, in this case.  Enjoy.

What is Custom Wedding Photography?

Like a handmade quilt, I treat your wedding photos with care and craftsmanship. This is what custom photography means to me. I start with professional Canon equipment and a wide array of Canon’s finest L-series lenses, each of which I have chosen for a different reason — from portrait lenses to wide-angle (or “storytelling” lenses, as I call them). I invest in software, professional retouching tools, filters, and workshops so that your images are as beautiful as the people in them. It means that every single photo is carefully edited, color corrected, and corrected for exposure by hand. Furthermore, I work with quality filters that allow me to give every photo a  gentle “once-over” for your wedding DVD. Beyond that, every photo is also converted to black and white, so that you have the option of printing in color or b&w. Lastly, I choose a handful of my favorite images for special attention — fully retouched and treated with fun effects. Per your request, I also offer complete retouching on special images. Finally, every single image that goes into your printed wedding album is retouched by hand.

When you consider the fact that most couples end up with anywhere from 500 to 1000 images, the process can be very time-consuming. That said, it is well worth the effort!
